Robert Romano

Co-Founder and CEO

A successful entrepreneur, Robert Romano is committed to assembling top academic and creative talent to produce innovative and effective educational technology for today's students. He developed the successful, award-winning EdVantage Software with renowned educator James Moffet, which sold to Riverdeep Interactive in 2001. Robert has an M.A. in Literature and the Teaching of Writing from Humboldt State.


Jay King

Co-Founder and COO

Jay King founded EdVantage Software with Robert Romano and led the development of several award-winning products. After its acquisition of EdVantage, Jay led Riverdeep's web development team, winning the prestigious CODiE award. In 2003, Jay founded the Patient Safety Group, providing web-based patient safety and quality tools to hospitals. Jay has an M.S. in Accounting from Santa Clara University.


Leah Osterman

Executive Vice President, Marketing & Business Development

Leah Osterman has spent 20 years developing and marketing educational products. Previously Leah was Executive Vice President of Riverdeep Interactive and Director of Educational Programming for MediaOne (now Comcast). Leah has also developed educational assets for several high profile television series, including Ken Burns's The Civil War, Thomas Jefferson, and Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery.


Mark Dwyer

Creative Director

Mark Dwyer has more than 30 years of creative development and brand building experience. He served as Director and Executive Producer of Development for A.H. Belo Corporation, producing shows for The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Time Warner, and National Syndication, and clients like Microsoft, HP, Nissan, Skype, PG&E, Comcast, and the San Francisco Giants.


Bradley T. McCord

CFO


Brad McCord is a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner with over 20 years of accounting and consulting experience. He was a Principal at Navigant Consulting, Inc. and a Vice President at Tucker Alan Inc. where he had also served as acting Controller.  Brad has an Accounting degree from the College of William and Mary.


Brian Canning

CTO

Brian Canning has over 20 years of experience building technology teams. Prior to joining StudySync, Brian held the role of CTO at TRA Inc. (acquired by TiVo Research Inc. in 2013) a big-data research and analytics services company for the TV and online advertising industry. Previously he was the CTO of an online education startup company (Teacher Universe) which was acquired by Riverdeep Inc. in 2002. Earlier in Brian's career he spent over eight years working for Apple in several IT and Software Engineering management positions both in the US and in Ireland.


Ryan Bubalo

Vice President, Curriculum and Implementation

Ryan Bubalo received his MFA. in creative writing at the University of Mississippi, where he taught Composition, Creative Writing, and Literature for the English Department. From 2008-2010, he worked at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani. At AUIS, Ryan taught English as a Second Language and undergraduate Composition. He also served as Deputy Director of the Academic Preparation Program and as the university's first women's basketball coach.


Michelle Davidson

Director, Implementation

Michelle received her Doctorate in Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and holds degrees from Miami University, University of Arkansas and Vanderbilt University. Michelle joins the team after a career as a former teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, associate superintendent, multi-school district regional supervisor, and lead content supervisor for the Tennessee Department of Education and Texas Education Agency.
